Sand

Pacific Ocean off Venice Beach, California

Flat on your back
looking at the sky
soft sand beneath.
Birds venturing in new skies
waves crashing nearby
a soft breeze on your skin.
Winter inside, Spring outside,
a storm brewing in your world
images crumbling away.
Waking up from another mirage,
keeping your pain in check
to not let it become pure rage.
Sobered up, feet on the ground,
no strength to lift yourself,
tears blur the blue sky above.
Flat on your back
music blaring in your head,
just keep laying on the soft sand.
This, too, will pass,
this, too, something to learn
and keep going.
Just let go.
