A Quandary

The Mediterranean from a flight approaching Barcelona, February 2018
Out of place,
here and now,
although there and then.
Aware
of what is,
thinking
of what could be.
A rainy winter day,
recalled solitude
and present company.
Longing for the gift of ubiquity
which will allow, at last,
to meet the longings of a heart
full of scattered affections.
On the shores of the Mediterranean
longing for the Pacific,
feeling on the banks of river Turia*
the calling from Tormes* and Guadalquivir*.
On the shore of solitude
enjoying a future memory
which will sublimate
time and space.

* Turia is the river in Valencia, Tormes in Salamanca, Guadalquivir in Córdoba
