Life

Valencia in late Fall, December 2018

If being with you hurts,
if being without you is exhausting,
if laughing together becomes scarce…
With or without you,
a good poem by Machado,
a slogan of sorts for life.
Living apart in the beginning,
living together for a while,
living in a harmonic sort of zigzag.
If living with you hurts,
if living without you exhausts,
then, living in a zigzag…
With you it is, lives and lives
together in this distance
of pretended solitudes.
With you in solitude,
with you in mind and soul,
both alone together
in the void of space.
