Tempus Fugit

Sunset time in Puzol (Valencia, Spain), June 2019

On the day my soul decides
for a change of scenery and goes on,
I will open wide a huge window
to let every single lived light pour in.
Through the window I will calmly watch
milestones overcome and still untouched,
I will breathe in the fragrant smell
of every memory I sowed.
The happy wind of those memories
will take me then certain
to the hearts I shared,
to the hearts, too, I could not embrace.
At this time, I will not feel overwhelmed
by being attached to the ones remaining,
neither will I be held back by the sorrow
of the ones sad at my farewell.
On the day my soul decides
for a change of scenery and goes on,
with a smile in my eyes I will
let the time pass which lent me its wings.
