One of Those Days

Puçol Beach (València, Spain), March 2020

Today is one of those days
where your ribs turn into armor
to shield the space of air and heart,
a day to withdraw,
nothing around:
solitude.
Today is one of those days
for an armor-plated heart,
for a distant gaze,
for a lonely conscience.
Today is one of those days
cold as ice in your spirit,
backbreakingly labored your breath,
painful your memories.
Today is one of those days
where reason turns up
to break down every gate:
the burden of pain
will then allow
for the final return
of a happy Spring.
