Safe

Cap Saint Vincent (Portugal), March 2006

So many years trying

to be a shelter,

to be that safe haven,

that someone to go to,

that I forgot myself.

Now, after the drought,

after having been alone

for much too long,

I find myself safe again.

Finally, the time has come

to be again a shelter,

a go-to, a safe haven,

this time, though, to myself.
