About a Bout

Sagrada Familia, Barcelona (Spain), August 2018

A sudden bout
of bone-crushing loneliness,
an unstoppable surge
of desolate energy,
let the room disappear
freezing on its wake
my heart to a crushing point.
Nothing feels the same,
although nothing has changed.
Breathing heavy,
more pant than breath.
Unable to move,
unwilling to embrace routine,
no escape in sight,
no hope, no light,
no will to fight.
Drowning in sadness,
unwilling to raise my head
above this swamp of loneliness
while surrounded by people.
Longing for a respite
to regroup and find
the energy to seek
the light of my days.
