Flashes

Pacific Ocean near Carmel, California (USA), October 2019

A sudden flash
rekindles a memory,
a feeling
of pain, loss,
of absence.
In the afterglow,
the air I am breathing
swiftly disappears:
Darkness,
seemingly endless now,
will certainly get
its own sunrise.
