Autumn

Neckarrems (Germany), November 2016
Leaves are falling,
the traveler curls up in the shelter,
a retreat sets on
which announces the arrival of winter.
Release:
what has been through the year,
what you got attached to,
becomes distant, unnecessary.
Excesses of summerly ease
start unstoppable to fall apart,
you just keep those precious gemstones
from which you will never want to be pried away.
Once again you get ready
for a winter’s rest.
You sow the seeds
of the crop that will move your heart
when wintry iciness at last
gives birth to new life in the spring.

Earthy colors of autumn to come,
omen of life,
balance of the soul.
